CocoricOz is a free online community for French speakers living in or visiting Australia. The website is based in Australia and serves users in both Australia and France.

2. What data do we collect?
We only collect data you voluntarily provide to us:
- Your name and email address if you contact us directly
- Anonymous browsing data from standard server logs
We do not collect sensitive information (health data, political opinions, financial data, ethnicity, etc.).
3. Why do we use your data, and on what legal basis?
Your data is used solely for the following purposes. Under the GDPR, each purpose relies on a specific legal basis:
- To respond to your enquiries — legal basis: your consent, given when you voluntarily send us a message.
- To ensure the technical functioning and security of the website — legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating a safe and reliable site.
- To comply with our legal obligations — legal basis: compliance with a legal obligation to which we are subject.
We currently use no tracking tools (Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, targeted advertising, etc.). If this changes, this policy will be updated and your consent will be sought.
4. Who we share your data with
We never sell your personal data and we do not share it for advertising. We rely on a small number of service providers to operate the site:
- Vercel Inc. — hosts the website and processes standard server logs (see section 8 on international transfers).
- Google (Gmail) — our contact address

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access, and the entire site is served over a secure (HTTPS) connection.
5. Cookies
This website uses only essential cookies required for technical functionality, including remembering your cookie banner preference. No advertising or behavioural tracking cookies are placed on your device.
6. Data retention
Your data is retained only for as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, and for a maximum of 3 years following your last contact with us.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR and the Australian Privacy Act 1988, you have the following rights:

Our website is hosted on the infrastructure of Vercel Inc., a company based in the United States. As a result, the limited data you send us (such as a contact message) and standard server logs may be processed on servers located in the United States or other countries where Vercel operates. This means your personal data may be transferred outside Australia and outside the European Economic Area (EEA). We share data with this hosting provider only to the extent necessary to operate the website, and we never sell it or pass it to unrelated third parties.

If you believe we have not handled your personal data in accordance with applicable law, please contact us first at asso.cocoricoz@gmail.com so we can try to resolve the issue — we aim to respond within 30 days.
